You could do a monologue, where you know someone who died in 9/11
or you were a passer by

bring in how you felt at that moment
how it's affected you, like find it hard to go out etc
feeling angry at people who did it
why did they do it
all that sort of stuff

think of things like
who you're going to be
what are they like
how are they involved in the whole thing
how its affecting them now

hope this helped a bit

Well, if you're struggling to write a sad monologue and you don't want to do anything too personal, then try to put yourself in someone else's place. Surely you have had friends or loved ones that have faced tragedy. If you can, get them to tell the story to you. Watch them as they tell it. Study everything about them. When do they pause? What do they remember or struggle to remember? When people tell stories, they're never overdramatic, often they are searching for the memory as they say it. So my big advice is, don't break down and cry when performing, it always looks forced.
