Question:How would i make a car as a prop? I know it sounds strange but i am one of the people that makes the props for the skits we have in our school and i have no clue where to start. I have ideas on what it would look like, but i need to know what i would make it out of.

It needs to be big enough to fit three average freshman boys in, while also being able to move AND with a trunk . its just a prop but still, our teachel says that it needs to be 'better' than just cardboard this year, so what should i do!? please, help me!! =[

My that's a tall order for a school skit, you will need to utilize your construction skills and build one, you will probably need to go to a pick and pull and get car parts, at least a steering wheel and headlights, you can also rig flashlights which are nice because they will turn off and on.

Does the trunk need to actually stow anything/one or does it need to just open?

Does it actually need to move? Does it need to be moved by the actors in the scene or do you plan on having someone help pull it off or are they going to Fred Flintstone it? Will action occur inside or outside of the vehicle or both?

If it is sideways:
I would probably start with a very sturdy flat on wheels. This will need to be weight tested. Make everything as light and as strong as possible.
Make a side of a car out of wood and papermache paint details.
Make the vehicle convertible so they can hop in otherwise you will add door mechanics to your to do list.
You can place couches or cubes behind the fake car for seats.
The wood car will need a hinged trunk lid but you can stow some sort of box to stow necessities.

If it is coming straight on you will need to create a grill and headlights

This is not going to be easy unless you are also in woodshop.

Consult the shop teacher for advice he might be able to figure out something and might even get his class to help you for extra credit.

Hm. Cars are always tough. I would probably build the structure (seats, how moving parts) and then sculpting the outside from chicken wire, covering it with paper mache, and painting it. This is no easy task you've been set! But that's how I'd go about it.
