Question:Would I have to pay for the plane cost if there was a modeling shoot going on and I had to go there like for example I live in South Dakota and the shoot was in California would I have to fly there and even pay for the cost? does it matter with an agent or without

It would matter with an agent, they can get you the gigs and you'll get in the shoot for sure, but the photographer/business would have to decide whether they would cover cost or not. That's if its freelance, if you're affiliated with an agency, they may cover the cost.

If you have neither, contact the business holding the shoot and ask, though most likely you will have to cover it.
