of course you can, use your imagination, plenty of wonderful plays have animals as main charaters (i.e- aliec in wonderland)

oh yeah! animals on stage are always fun! Just be sure the animal doesn't hold any cues and make sure to write the animal off when it is not needed. Also your actors better be ready to improv around the animal.

Definatly!! Think Metamorphasis (when the main character turns into a beetle) and Animal Farm!
