Describe.

There was a TV show I had heard rumors about for a while, so I did a lot of hunting on line to find out when they would be casting for it and who the casting directors were.

This was for a TV series (not a reality show), but I don't feel comfortable saying specifically which one it was.

I worked hard trying to get an audition, sending in my picture and resume on my own, but I knew they would never really look at an unsolicited submission. So, I worked hard to find a manager who would really work hard to submit me because I felt like I was extremely appropriate for the role and had the special skills required for it.

I found a manager who worked hard and bugged the casting directors (stretching the truth at times - saying I was moving to LA and such, just to get them to take me seriously.) They finally agreed to let me submit a video audition. I got the sides and filmed the audition and it was sent in.

I cannot tell you how much getting this role would have meant to me... not only because I would get to play a character I was deeply interested in, but also for more practical reasons - such as a huge boost to my career and, let's say it - finances.

My manager bugged them, made sure they got the tape, made sure they watched it, etc.

It turned out that they liked my audition, but they ended up casting all Canadian actors, since the show was being filmed in Canada and it was cheaper.

The actress who got "my" role, had a very similar look to me.

It turned out that the show was pretty crappy - not just me saying that as someone who wasn't cast - but it really was and it was canceled pretty quickly.

I was deeply disappointed I didn't get it - and even if I were cast and the show was crappy, it still would have been a boost to my career. Alas.
