Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Man to man onstage kissing?

Question:I have been in the business for over 25 years and never had an onstage kiss before.

I am a gay male actor who has 3 kissing scenes with another male actor who is straight. I don't want either one of us to be uncomfortable, or say something stupid.

Any advice how to talk about it and physically do it?

If he is a professional actor who takes his craft seriously you should have nothing to worry about. As an actor, I'm sure he realizes that there is indeed a big difference between a "kissing scene" and an actual kiss.

Try to keep discussion on the scenes as professional as possible and as for how to do it physically, well, just kiss as you normally would ^_^ (unless the script specifies otherwise)

Good luck with the performance! With so many years of experience you should have nothing to worry about, so just enjoy and do your best

Does it need to be a real kiss? Probably have a chat with him to make sure he's open minded and doesn't assume that just cause you're gay you fancy him.

Grow up and be professional....if you've been in the business for 25 years you should be more than comfortable doing anything....it doesn't make sense....there's no need to talk about it .... you physically do it - by making a choice on how your character would kiss the other character and that's that ...

I would just advise talking with him, and making sure that it's ok with him.

Oh, and practice a few times to determine which one will initiate, etc.

Good luck with that.

"Michelle D" is right on, the other actor should be a professional actor and serious about his work. I wouldn't even bring up anything about it with him. Besides, if he were going to be uncomfortable kissing another male (gay or not) he never would have auditioned in the first place. In most theatres, things such as onstage kissing and nudity are discussed before or during the audition process and often have a clause in the individuals contract.

Good luck- what show are you doing?
