Explain to your mum that you really would like to pursue acting, getting classes and everything is a great confidence boost, practising and getting experience makes you more confident while performing. And don't worry some of the greatest actresses/actors are so shy..but when there onstage they shine!!!..Somewhat like me..i'm very very very shy..but when i'm on stage i don't know..i just all of a sudden come out of my shell and just act!!

So here is how you should go about it..

Get Experience!-do acting classes, in school,do acting classes outside of school, and join the local community theatre.

Community theatre is great and looks fantastic on a resume..in community theatre you met other actors outside of school, who may be older or younger than you, but you can learn something from each and everyone of them. Working in community theatre is great too, for learning how to work in an enviroment where you don't know many people at first, you learn to work with complete strangers..who with time become like your family.

Take some vocal lessons, there are advantages of being able to sing when you want to persue becoming an actor. Even take some dance classes, i recommend Jazz as it is very musical and/or Ballet as it is the foundation of dance. Even enrol in a "Musical Theatre Course" where you learn singing, acting and dancing at the same place, at the same time. Most lessons go for about 2 hours..so that means 45 mins acting 45 mins singing and the rest dancing.

After you believe you are up to it, put together your resume and search for an agent. Search around and make sure it's a legit agency, which means they don't ask for money upfront, they only take 15% out of your pay when you start working and booking jobs. Do your research, see how you can get to the agency when your parents can't take you..do the same with the singing lessons etc so when you sit down with your parents they won't get stressed out thinking they have to take you all these places, it's hard because they have work etc..So show them your research and they will realise how serious you are and they will be proud that you took responsiblity and done research. And it will be less stressful once they know you can catch a bus to met with your agent when there unavailable to take you.

Call around a few agency and see how you can join them, even ask your parents to do this for you as they can make a time that is suitable to them for a meeting. As I strongly suggest the first one or two meetings your parents should come, as they need to sign contracts etc etc as you are not over 18 yet.

Usually auditioning for an agency consists of an interview with the agent and a presentation of one or two monolgues from either a movie or a play etc

After you audition they may tell you right then and there that you can join there agency or you might have to wait a few days and they will call you in for a meeting or just tell you over the phone OR send you a letter.

If you get in, FANTASTIC! they will deal with your career from here and help you get auditions etc.

If not, don't give up! it will suck for a little while but just try again somewhere else and just keep trying!!

I hope this helped..

Go for confidence or acting course, then talk to ur mom, you really want to act. Action speak louder than word....

As advice from a fellow thirteen year old, I say that 13 is a great time to start your dream career. You should take an acting course or something. Classes really help train you for the future.
I took some for writing and it really helped me...

As for your mom, you can go from really shy to a social butterfly. If you are worried about failure, even if you did make a mistake, people would forgive and forget. Trust me.

Hey hun, hehe I'm a young actor director choreographer too (sorry.. Will&Grace quote! I love Sean Hayes) also 13

I took ballet classes from ages 8-12 and have just recently started on doing Musical Theatre instead/also. You should take Musical/Theatre classes, or Dance classes and try auditioning at a local theatre. Don't let anyone tell you you're too late. Hey, most of the people I take classes with have been dancing since they were four. I'm not saying they're fabulous or awful, but most of them lack an.. inspiration I'd say. Just follow what you're passionate for. Passion will take you wherever you want to go as long as you meet God half way. Work hard, but have FUNN! =D

If you ever need anything- at all, or you just want to talk you can e-mail me okay? If you need advice or what not I usually check my e-mail everyday so I'll be there (and I'll cover you!). (RENT)

Sorry, I'm on a roll with quotes =)
