Question:its not very humorous, but its about a little girl ( i play the part of the girl)who has no friends and is very depressed. so she "creates" an imaginary friend. ( and i have to perform this alone, and i cannot be two or more people. there are other characters in this but i have to pretetnd they are there.)
this is what i wrote for the monolougue so far.

(girl walks into house)
Girl: Hi mom im home.
( mom says, Hows school?)
Girl: *sigh* it was bad..but I dont wanna talk about it..Ima go to my room.
( walks to a chair, puts backpack on floor, sits on chair)
Girl: Ugghh, I hate my life!..I wish I had someone to talk to..like a friend..
( imaginary friend pops out of nowhere, and says hi to girl)
Girl: *jumps in shock, gets off chair and backs away* WHO ARE YOU?!
( the imaginary friend says, your imaginary friend!)
Girl: My imaginary friend?..WHAT?!

Ok ... you've written a scene here, not a monologue. You've already devised text for other characters (Mom and Imaginary Friend). Ideally, a monologue should be able to be delivered directly to the audience as one stream-of-consciousness, without being being broken by pauses for supposed responses rom other characters. The audience, then, becomes the other character.

Try the monologue from the Imaginary Friend's point of view ... IF returns home, throws briefcase into a corner and talk to her husband about her day at work:

IF: Ooooh, you wouldn't believe the day I've had today ... I was assigned to be the imaginary friend of this dreary teenaged girl. Hated school, hated her parents, hated life. Honestly, how does the boss expect me to be 'friendly' with a creature like that? I just felt like slapping her and telling her to get her **** together. But instead I did the 'friend' thing and asked her if she'd like to hang out at the mall.

"That'd be audaciously kewl!" she said.

Ugh. She was just so eager to have a friend ... even an imaginary one like me ... So, anyway, we went to this awful mall and she was trying to show off in front of all her dreary school-mates, chatting away to me nineteen-to-the-dozen, as if to say, "I've got a friend! I'm popular! I'm kewl!"

But of course the other's couldn't see me ... they only saw her chatting away to thin air ...

==> Okay, I got carried away there, but it's an idea!

umm... i depends how old you are... if your 12 its fine... if your older it doesnt seem like its going anywhere. kinda cheesy & cliche.
