Doc is one of the men- a country kind of guy with a limp from a bad accident. He is the ex-boyfriend of a main character, Meg. He had his heart broken by her.

Barnette Lloyd is the other guy- a young ambitious lawyer. He develops a cute crush one of his clients, Babe, who shot her husband. He also has a vendetta against Babe's husband for an incident from the past.
