Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is it too late to start an acting career? Pls Read?

Question:I'm 17 and want to become an actor. I was planning on moving to California with a friend and trying out for a couple of broadway acts and hiring an agent when I turn 18. The thing is, I live on an island of Guam and definitely cannot do anything to improve my resume for acting etc.
I'm pretty, average height, very stern on my acting. I've been in the United states before and been in Drama classes.
Is it going to be too late by the time i get to launch my career?

You are never too old for anything, and 17 is just starting out in life...I agree with Loraine H, that you need to be clear on what you want. Broadway is in New York, and involve live theatre (acting in front of live audiences). Hollywood, located in Southern California, is "the entertainment capitol of the world", and is known for its movie studios and film production companies. Now a days, alot of movies are not even filmed in California, because costs are too high. But it is still a great place to be discovered. Many people in Los Angeles/ Hollywood are waiting to be discovered, and employed in the service industry as waiters/ waitresses until their big break....There is no such thing as overnight success (well, never say never, but it is very rare!)

no but its hard! This might help

No, but you need to be clear in your mind about what you want to do. Moving to California and trying out for "broadway acts" and "hiring an agent" are not realistic. Broadway is in New York, for one thing, and you don't hire an agent, you find one who is willing to send you out. To do that, you should be in the unions.

If you're going to California, that's fine, I assume you mean Los Angeles. You will be at an excellent age for films, televisions, soap operas, etc. Make sure you have excellent head shots, and it's not a bad idea to get into a good acting class somewhere and start meeting and networking with other actors. You need to figure out how you're going to live while you're living in LA also.

It's never to late.Just practice and practice. Then go to california and follow your dreams.
you can do it.
when you become a star.
remember me.

Its never too late to do something you really want to do. If you truly want to become an actor than follow your dream and you will acheive it.

no as long as you know what you are doing and give it all you got

oh wow I never new how hard it was to do this. I am so with you :}
if you get discovered or figure out what to do tell me! :}

I started at age 25 and have been working non-stop since then. It is never too late.
