Here's where "sense memory" comes in.Try to remember a time in your life where you felt these same emotions(and don't tell me you haven't)the feeling of "not knowing whether to laugh or cry" is not at all uncommon and you need to be able,as an actor,to tap into these thought processes. It's also know as "getting naked" as yes,it's akin to that and what you want to do is develop it so that you can retrieve it anytime you feel you need it.It was hard to learn to cry on que for me,becuase guys aren't supposed to do that(stupid right?)
But,when those tears are coming from a real place, not only do you feel it,the audience feels it too.

Well, it's kinda the same emotion...joy and pain. Laughing and crying...you need to have a clear understanding of the scene, and WHY you're laughing and crying. Explore the character.

to cry try to think of something really really sad like a really close family member dying, or a super sad situation or movie, think about it really hard and how sad it is and how badley u miss that person or how bad u feel... u end up crying. to laugh like the other person said think of the funniest thing possibal and just naturally laugh or thing of something ridiculous that is just hilarious!
