Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Good song and acting piece for school audition.?

Question:My school is doing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for the school musical. I want either the part of Veruca Salt (the rich bratty girl) or Violet Beauregarde (the gum-chewing girl). I need a short acting piece or story to read aloud/act out and then I need a separate song. My voice is average/normal.

So, a good song to sing is needed. And, I need either a bratty piece to act (but not from the actual movie part) or another piece to act that is like Violet Beauregarde (also should NOT be from the movie).

Thanks so much for your help.

P.S. I promise to vote for a best answer.

P.S.S. put a website where I can get the song lyrics or acting piece (if you can't though, its okay.)

THANKS!!!

ummmm... a good scene to do is one from the wicked queen it's a show kinda like snow white but it's a monolouge and it has a lot of attitude in it so...
some songs would be, for good, defying gravity, i should tell you, without you, and little known facts
if you want the monolouge form the wicked queen e-mail me

I can't think of a good piece for you to act but a song would be "Only Hope" by Mandy Moore it has a good range and should show of your voice well.

I know you said no, but saying some Pepper lines from annie would be great for a bratty role. Also, check online for musicals. The songs are more theatre oriented and you'll be sure to find some good dialogue. Good Luck, hope you get one of those roles!

I have two kids who have followed the theatre path, and had to make these choices. I think you're right in trying to find something that shows how right you are for the part, while at the same time demonstrating your wider range of acting and voice.

For the song: It's for a little older actress, but if you can make the director believe it, this choice will be very effective: The "I Hate Men!" song from Act 2 of "Kiss Me, Kate." It's funny, emotional, and requires a strong voice. Bratty, you will be. :-)

For a "bratty young girl" acting part, especially if you can convey an Irish accent without sounding affected - there's a female lead (I forget the character's name) in "The Cripple of Innishmann." She torments her brother, flirts with the married men, and basically gets her way. It's a great part!

Anyhow, there are a couple suggestions.

Break a leg!
