Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: How do you get a musical of play to get onto broadway?

If you have a script for a musical send it to the regional theatres. If there is interest they will consider producing it.
Then the process begins where you work with the director on re writing the play.

You put it together off broadway and see how it play, work the bugs out and then find a theater and financing to do it on broadway.

You have to find considerable financing because theaters can cost anywhere from $5 to $10 per seat to rent

Your no name actors will cost $2,000 a week

You musicians will cost a minimum of $500 a week each and you need 15

Your stage crew will cost between $1,000 and $3,000 a week and you need a minimum of 19.
