Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Suggestions for a play to direct?

Question:I'm on the roster to direct a play for our community theatre's upcoming season.

I want a small adult cast, and I have to be flexible with rehearsal space (even someone's living room), and not be tied down to a traditional performance space - dinner theatre, in the round, any number of creative locations are available. A romantic comedy would be okay, but I prefer something with an abnormal twist. I thought about one of the "Tuna" scripts, but that's a bit raw for our middle-aged and older audience.

Any suggestions?

Catfish Moon is a great script and a great play. 3 male 1 female roll.

You could also do a series of One Acts by Christopher Durang.

Wanda's Visit is hysterical and so is For Whom the Southern Bell Tolls (a parody on The Glass Menagerie)

Art is a three men play. You can perform it anywhere.I did it in art galleries and peoples homes.

You could look at The Good Doctor by Neil Simon. The play is a series of short sketches that can be staged simply, and Simon is a crowd-pleaser.
