I want to be an actress, but why?

Question:I love acting and I think it would give me a great platform to do other things, such as help out charities and influence others to do the same. I am very shy and therefore I am often ignored. How do I tell if I want to be an actress just to be famous or or the passion of acting? This probably doesn't make sense.

Have you ever acted before? Because there are certain things that you just know. I'm currently acting in the Advanced Theatre group at my high school and i know because when I'm on that stage I feel at home. And when in the theatre by myself and the house lights are down, I'm over taken by emotion. That's how I know. And if you're afraid of the stage or acting because you're shy then there are many other ways to be involved with acting and help people without actually acting. I've been trying different things in the last few years and I've realized I am equally in love with directing and managing various productions. Try thing out and you will know. Good luck! :)

I am in the same situation, except I know that this is something that I want to do. What I would do would be try and get a lot of experiences in musicals or plays because they are a little harder than acting in movies, or if you want to be a theatre actress,do that anyway. This can help you try and see if it is really something that you like. Maybe to try and et rid of the worry, you could hae a back-up career too.

I have the same problem as you. All I can tell you is to get involved with acting as much as you can, take every opportunity you get to grow as a performer. Until you fully experience the lifestyle, you cannot truly determine if this is something you want. Just remember, it isnt all glitz and glamor, there are sacrifices and hardships that come with success.
