Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" worth seeing for $100?

Question:The national tour of the show is coming to Toronto in a few weeks. I would have to drive an hour to get there and good tickets are about $100 - is it worth it?? I love musicals, but I don't know much about this show and I don't know if it will be worth the trip and money. (Please, avoid spoilers in answers, thanks!)

Since you are writing about going to Toronto - just thought that I would let you know that the National Tour is going to be in Shea's Theatre in Buffalo, NY the 15-20 (next Tuesday thru Sunday).

Ticket prices for Shea's range from $20 to $50 and you can purchase them online.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up. 25th Annual is COMPLETELY worth the traveling to go see it. Also, keep in mind that 25th Annual is going to be closing on Broadway on the 20th of January, and if you want to see a good professional version of the show you are going to want to catch the national tour.

Cheers!

i haven't seen it. but i'm dying to!! im actually listening to "i'm not that smart" right now. =] but i think that its worth it. hey, if i had $100, i would definately spend it on watching a show.

It's quite a comical musical! If you sit in a certain seat, you might even get INVOLVED in the play. Just for a short period of time, but still involved nonetheless. The original cast was quite impressive and did a fantastic job, and I believe I spent around that much to go see it in New York. It's not the best musical around, but I would still recommend it.

I wouldn't. It's a really dumb show with little sets or costumes or anything. If ur looking 4 a bang for your buck, i wouldn't.

I would say go. 100 is not that high. I love the show myself, sad that its closing on the 20th.(on broadway) The show is very funny, its rather simple but sometimes simple is good. To get an idea of the show try to find a song or two from it. The show is for adults...adult themed..but oddly they play childern. They let a few people join in, you get to try to spell. On broadway they had the best speller in the united states... it was a kid...but the show lasted alot longer..because he kept spelling the words right. Anyway...I would go..Its a funny show.
