i just got done reading this...it was weird but i liked it!

Stella- she is the more down-to-earth sister. she comes from a rich background, but isnt showy about it. she is content with her life with stanley and her meager apartment she lives in.

Blanche- is very high class. She is very needy( of attention and material things ) suffers from her family losses and her 1st husbands death. she tries her best to act young, and isnt very content with her life.

I don't remember Stella too much, but I do remember Blanche being a *****. I supose one is a pushover and appreciates sensiblity, while Blanche is a pusher and is selfish. It's been about 7 years since I read that book. The movie clarifies much more.
