Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Tips for acting resume?

Question:I'm making an acting resume to send to the Disney Channel. I know that they like people who are over 18 and can play younger. I'm 19, but I look pretty young. I could play my age, but I could also play quite a bit younger. I was thinking about putting 14-20 for my age range, or is this too big of a range? Should I put 15-20, or 14-19? Also any other tips for making the resume, like the info I should put on it and the how I should categorize everything? Is that important? Do I put my phone number on it? I have an example to go by off of a website, but it has two different examples, one is for beginner's and it doesn't show a phone number on it. Also, what should I mail it in, just like a photo envelope? Thanks

If you look A cup you can go 14.

You need to have thin hips and flat top, otherwise you are 15 or 16.

Phone can be home phone, cell phone, service or maybe a parent's work number if they agree to it.

Don't put your age range on there. Don't pigeon hole yourself with an age at all.

You can put your phone number and an email address. I wouldn't put your home address on there because you don't know who is going to be looking at your resume. You need a headshot to go with the resume. I suggest taking a photo you like and blowing it up to an 8x10. Put your resume on the back of the photo.

Put your name centered in a nice font and over sized at the top of the page, put your contact information directly under it.
If you want to put your stats you can: Hair, eyes, height, weight

Then list your experience Role, show, director
List education
Classes: acting classes you may have taken
Special skills: singing, jazz, tap, ballet, figure skating....whatever

Ok, lets get straight to the point. What do you think makes the difference between a job seeker being notified to make space in the diary for the interview and that same job seeker receiving a letter that says, "Thanks, but no thanks"?

Nobody want to receive the letter "we will keep your resume on file should any further vacancies become available". Which in essence is the thanks but no thanks reply.

The most important factor in applying for that new job is the resume and of course the accompanying cover letter (by the way the covering letter is sometimes more important than the resume itself and can get you a jump on the opposition - find out how by clicking here). Without these documents your attempt to land that all important job is almost impossible.
