Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Song for Audition?

Question:I know tis is a lot to early to worry about this, but I usually, have a major audition during the summer, and I was wondering if I should try singing Popular from Wicked. I'm an alto and also a girl. (just want to know because, this song is kinda hard for me, but if I start practicing it now, I should have it down by like march or may, then I'll just have to practice on and off til my audition. and if you have any other song suggestions, that'd be great. :D

It's a really good thing to think about it early! Then you're not stuck in a jam like me with a big audition on Mon and are not sure what I am doing... but, Popular is very fun, good and it can be a great way to show off acting skills. However, it is also very over done, and it can be really bad, and it is VERY charaterized by the amazing Ms. Chenoweth, so you can get caught up in sounding like an imitation. Lots of things to think about :). I also think that there are tons of other alto-ish songs out there that you could feel completly comfortable singing, so, why bother with an over done piece that you don't feel comfortable with? I don't know your range, so I can't really help you with that right now, but if you email me, I'd love to help more!
