Question:The new Johnny Depp movie Public Enemies is going to be filmed in WI. I would love to be an extra in whatever scene they are filming, which i think is a bank robbing scene. Is there a way to become an extra in it? Or are you allowed to show up and just watch the filming? Anyone got any tips.

This story takes place in the '30s, so all the extras (union and non-union) will have to wear period clothing. I mention that because it means they probably aren't going to have a non-union call for hundreds of non-professional actors to be in a crowd scene. That would be the easiest way to get into a film, especially if you live in a smallish town. (A production will sometimes air commercials with a website telling you how to be in a crowd scene, but I couldn't find one for this movie.) If there aren't a lot of movies filmed in your area, there's little infrastructure for Hollywood casting agents, so try calling local agencies. They won't be flying extras in from New York or Los Angeles. Generally, keep your eyes peeled. Read the newspaper.

I have never been an extra but they have filmed several movies in my city and the local news shows usually has the information you are looking for. Some of my friends were extras and they said it was really boring and long.

no usually they block it off(like they did with ecks vs sever in vancouver i seen a burnt peice of car moving across the ground xD) anyway you can ask but you would probably have to oddition and odds are hundreds or mabey even thousand already have the same thought in there head.

you'll probably have to fill out an application with height and other information about body sizes to see if your what they are looking for. Then if you get picked you will have to bring like 3 totally diff outfits to shooting incase they want you to change good luck!!

You need to find out who is doing the extra casting for the location shoot.
