INDEX CARDS...

You'd have better luck memorizing it if you got off of ANSWERS and into your book!

I would try making it a song that you really like (the toon) and then tomorro for the play sing it in your heaad but say it instead!

Ya, wright them down on index cards or tst yourself. Do whatever for like 10 minutes and then come back and see if you can get them straight and over and over again.

I was in theatre, and what you do. Is you read little by little. Like I had a REALLY long monologue, and it took my twenty minutes. Just go paragraph by paragraph. Read the first one, then read the second. Then read the first and second together.

Try to remember each sentence by itself. Then try to remember the first word (or 2) from each sentence and remember the sequence. That way, when you are doing the monologue, you can start with the first word or two and since you memorized each sentence, it will flow out of your mouth.

try to imagine a path, and associate every word for an item on this path, and when you need to recite the monologue just retrace your path(this might be easier for me(I'm autistic))

say it over and over again and again

Record yourself saying the speech, put it on your music player, and play it repeatedly until you leave for class tomorrow. Yeah, while you work, eat, sleep. Dont put off practicing it, for you'll need to, but having the recording going while you're unable to practice will help imprint the words into your mind. Think if it like listening to your favorite song. The more you listen, the more lyrics you know.

Keep reading it over and then practice without looking at the paper. Take breaks in between and don't stress. Have someone sorta test you on it.

read it over and over and over and over then type/write (your preferance) over and over and over and over then say it over and over and over and over. Then do something for half an hour and after that half hour is up repeat if you still dont have it memorized

I am in theatre also and when I have to memorize something I act it out in front of a mirror over and over until I am satisfied with the way I do it. It may make you feel silly but it helps you act it out better and memorize it =)

Keep going over and over it. Ask somebody to help you by doing this: (like if your lines were hi the never hello monkey paper) they would say never, and you would have to say the sentence after that. It will help you actually memorize the words. I would be quick and start doing it now. Good luck!! I love to act, too.

There's a huge difference between reading and memorization. The technique is simple if you follow it. Start by reading/memorizing just 5 words then turn the script so you can see it and try to add one more word without looking. Then look at the script again, put it away again and see how far you can get. The key is, every time you have to start reciting from the beginning. You'll quickly ad more and more words to what you know until you're finished. Its a very fast technique.

go very slowly at frist like read one word at a time and get faster and faster until you pretty much memorized it. That is how I survived. Youll do fine if you do it that way have fun with it I had to play a male lead in titanic a few years ago in a small musical

Record what you have to say and play it all night long while you sleep. Your brain still functions while you sleep. But this doesn't mean that you must not practice out load. Repeat each phrase until you get it right, then move on to the next one.

Aren't you a little late to search for help?

Remember what the scene is about and then ab lib it when you forget the lines due to stage fright.

Well, I have to recite a speech for class in a couple of days, and I already have it memorized. It helps if you memorize it little by little. Memorize the first line or two, and once you've got that down, move on. I also had to recite the Gettysburg Address and I did the same thing for that, too. Before you know it, you should have it memorized.

Memorize one line at a time when you memorize the third. Say The 1st 2nd and 3rd again. Then you go 2 4th 5th and 6th. Then you say the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th all over. You can do this until all of you lines are memorize. Or you could just keep reading it and look for some key words in ta sentence or 2 and you might jus have to memorize those key words and mayb u could get it down. I donno thats sorta what I did when I had to memorize a long monologue for my theater class...UNDERSTAND IT DON'T REALLY MEMORIZE..IT HELPS...ALOT!
Hope this helps!

theater doesn't associate with slackers!!

What I do to memorize lines is very simple.

Say you have to memorize this line from "Moon Over Buffalo"

ETHEL: All Right. Fine. One glass. ...Now listen to me, young lady. The theater may be dying. The glamorous invalid may be crawling through the desert with a single lung in it's feeble chest, but it is still breathing and it's all we've got......

That isn't the whole line but it's enought to illustrate what I'll tell you.

Start out with "All right" While walking around repeat "All right " seven times. Then say "All right. Fine." and do the same thing. Then add the next word, rinse and repeat. Then add "All right. Fine. one glass..." rinse repeat again. Do that for your whole monologue. It will take some time, but it works. Also don't sit while you are memorizing. If you are sitting while memorizing, it will all go out the window when you stand up and start walking around (this has happened to me many times). I promise this works and it is a great way to learn. Also when you get up tomorrow morning, work the monologue again. Keep working it until you have to do it in class. Also if you can get a friend to follow along while you are working on the monologue to make sure you have it right, that always helps.
Hope this helps and break a leg! (it's bad luck to say good luck in theater =D)
