Question Home

Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Anybody work in a box office?? (any Telecharge or ticketmaster workers?)?

Question:I do. Do any of you deal with these sorts of issues?:

-Subscribers who think they rule the world and deserve the world.

-Dealing with inclement weather and patrons calling to "let us know its snowing"? (Yes, we've noticed the snow too sir...)

-Dealing with patrons who never have their credit card number ready when they call to place an order.

-Dealing with patrons who call to make a reservation but have no idea what date they want.

-Dealing with patrons that say, "second row on the aisle? Don't you have anything better?"

-Dealing with patrons on the phone who choose to yell at the person in the room with them, and trying not to feel akward? Or dealing with 3 way calling?

-Dealing with patrons on the phone who are heavy breathers, eating, in the bathroom, or have not spoken on the phone since it was invented?

Yes Yes Yes!
All of the above and so much more!
Oh the stories I could tell after being in the business for over 25 years!!!

I live the calls where one person is on the phone with you and then realaying everything you say to another person in the room, hearing the other person ask a question and then having the person you are actually on the phone wiht relay it back to you!

LJ - It's meant to be a fun post - you must not have worked ina box office very long.

I'm sorry, I have little sympathy.

Yes, I have worked in a box office. I have also worked behind a counter. Yes, some people can be rude. So can some service personel.

I have also been a consumer, including a consumer of theater tickets. I've probably done several of the things on your list at one time or another. But who hasn't done a few of these things some of the time???

These things only bother you because it happens over and over again, so it's repetative. But to the person making the error, it's the first time for him or her.

Are you perfect, ALL the time? Don't you do annoying things some of the time when you call up a service hotline or when you are shopping?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, I say (and I'm not even Christian, but it's a good line.)

Dealing with the public is a large part of your job. That's why you were hired. So deal with it.
