Position:Home>Theater & Acting> What experience do you need to have to be an actor?

Question:If you want to try acting; my suggestion is to try out for small parts in local/community theatre or local schools. A lot of small theatre has some amazingly talented people and you would be learning while gaining experience. Also, it never hurts to try "behind the scenes" if you don't get an acting part at first. Try volunteering to help with stage handing, lighting, helping build sets, etc. It will get you in the door and help you to learn about what goes into a production..

Well you don't really have to have experience! It could come natural! But If you stink badly at acting or you just want to inprove you should consider taking acting classes! And also as an actor it's always good to have another talent such as singing, dancing, fashion designing,modeling....etc,.

For some people it comes naturally. For most, it doesn't. Take acting classes. If you can go to college for drama, do it. If you can't, try improv. Improv can be such great fun and you can learn a lot from it. Steve Carell started out in improv. But whatever you do, listen to your instructor, even if it is criticism. And learn from it.
