Question:I worked in community theater for several years in all areas- tech, design, performance, management- I did it all. I've been out of it for a long time and really itching to get back. I am not at all ready to just start auditioning again. There are a number of workshops available in my area (Sacramento CA) but I am wondering if that is a good place to start? All my previous training was in college classes and just working, not community workshops. Maybe I would be better off with some tech stuff first? Just to get the wheels turning again? But I am sure any knowledge I used to have about equipment is obsolete. What are some experiences? Any advice on where to start again?

Get desired knowledge from any places making it available. After all, if you want to go horseback riding and a horse was available, would it matter what kind it is as long as it is broken already? If the community workshops are the only option you have right now, take advantage of it if right now is when you're trying to acquire the skills.
