Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Am I wrong for being annoyed at this?

Question:Many of the people on these boards are posting questions like "I want to be on TV!" or "How can I be Miley Cyrus?" I just think it gets annoying because obviously they have no idea just how hard many of us have worked on acting to get where we are. Which is still not far...and here come people who one day wake up and want to be an actor JUST to be famous and they think they can get there within like a week... but its not like that... Am I wrong for being extrmeley annoyed at this?

Omg, I get sooooo annoyed with it!
I have even complained about it on my profile (tehehe)
It's just SO annoying..they just want to be "famous" they just want the lifestyle..they have no damn idea about acting or singing, they think its easy.

And I agree, the people with the passion for it work so hard, and these wannabe's don't understand.

I myself want to be an actress, but I don't care if im famous, I don't care if its theatre or tv as long as im doing it. And if they really wanted to be an actress they would do the research and find agents..I mean how hard is it to know that you need an agent!!!!!!!! or even smarter than an agent ACTING LESSONS!..theres a start!.. you don't need to tell everyone that you want to be famous..just because you want people to know..they could just look at the other millions of answers people have written to other peoples question.

So I agree it is so annoying, and I don't bother even looking at the questions..

So yea..that's what I think :P

Xx

No, I think that wanting to be on TV just to be famous is stupid!! Why would you want to throw away your privacy just so everyone will know your name??? And yeah it really takes a LOT to be famous, it would take months, maybe even years.

Same feelings here. People think that acting is easy and just want the money.

You have every right to be annoyed! I want to smash all their faces into walls!

We are on the same page, my friend.

no your not wrong for it because clearly you cant go to Hollywood if you dont work for it unless your lucky, im busting my butt for a roll ive wrkd for an agent i had to work hard to be in plays and things! it does get annoying because though the jonas bros were discoverd in a hair solan most ppl (kathrine hiegel) and more worked hard for there career

No. I too have to bite my tongue (so to speak), although I have just recommended someone to visit their local travel agency as they wanted to see the world (as an actress). I usually recommend drama schools, or auditions, but know the hard work it takes to become an actor. You can't just get an agent - I have worked with brilliant actors who have had to join a co-operative as they have not found an agent to represent them, or agents who don't seem to try too hard in finding work for them. I know there are some very lucky people who have made it big by being in the right place at the right time and having the right look (have worked with one), but they are so rare. Many successful actors are not household names, but have managed to sustain a varied career for years. I am not an actor, but have been very lucky in my career in stage management to have worked with some of the best British Actors (some well known on TV and film, others well known in theatre).

I completely agree! If you have been paying your dues for years in the business, you shouldnt be underminded by those who think fame will knock on their door. Its all about work, and when you've been doing shows or commercials for years, then fame will come. By saying you want to be famous and have a hit show with no experience, youre insulting those who have done what it takes to get where they are.

No Way - you totally have reason to be annoyed. When I read those sorts of questions I just wanna shake these people and say "HEY! Ya know what? I've been at this for 4 years and I JUST got an agent this year". I wish they would all just understand that this doesn't happen over night! Working actors do exactly that: work. It's a JOB and it's not always easy. And if they want to do this just for the fame, they won't go much further than their local community theatre. It takes alot of hard work and most of the time it's A very slow process. Sorry about the rant but I just wanted to put all that out there. lol

You're...kind of wrong.

In their defense, this IS the acting category. They want to pursuit their dreams, and just want tips from fellow actors. If you are annoyed by this, feel free to leave this section of Yahoo! Answers.

But, posting things like "I wanna be like Miley Cyrus!" or "Zac Efron!" or any of the other Disney teenyboppers makes me gag. If you're going to be an actor/actress, try being your own person.

Yes and no.

Yes it can be annoying

But they are kids and it proves how good Disney is at what they do.

They make it look so easy

And Miley, what, she did two three small roles before becoming a superstar, while 95% of the actors remain in shadows and most make under $15,000 a year.

Disney's people watched the Madonna and Britney machines unfold

And they decided to launch one, called Lizzie McGuire which worked to a vast degree and then Hilary went out on her own and Disney said let's do it again, only even better this time and they took a good two years to put Hannah Montana together and spent the same fortune on her that was spent on Britney and Madonna.

And every kid thinks Disney is going to do it for them

Well, Disney might try another, but it'll de different next time and they got at least another two years left in life out of Hannah.

Do you remember the Britney machine between album 1 and album 2

There were pictures of her in vending machines. Posters.

Do you remember the Madonna Machine. They put Nile Rogers, who was basically out of a job, on as producer. They put her into Desperately Seeking Susan along with two or three tunes from her first album. It was geared for release (Warner movie, Warner albums) right after album 2.

The ran a double truck ad of Madonna in Billboard (that's like $250,000).

The promoters got all the stations to play hat hideous song Like a Virgin (I love some of the other cuts on that album, including Material World and Crazy For You).

Well, we have Disney trying their had with Lizzie, which did ok, HSM and Hannah and they turned it into an art.

This all began, you know in the 1960's with the Monkees, a concoction of son of Columbia Pres Schnider and Bob Raffelson and they did the same thing, with posters, albums (music by the wrecking crew including Glenn Campbell on lead guitars, songs from Neil Diamond, Carol King).

I tried my hand on this myself and actually got somewhere with a young singer and only $20K in budget, we made quite a bit of noise and drove in 5,000 people a year on the internet which ain't bad, got some TV video airings and got some minor labels calling us.

What no one understands it's all mirrors and smoke.

And today we see the backlash with Reality TV and the new Brintney show, Paris show (both from jail) and Jamie Lynne show still coming.

It's going to be interesting to see how Miley comes out of this, as Celine or Faith or will she go the way of Britney, Jamie and Paris.

This is the show scene yet to come and it will come.

This is the show you pay $$$ to keep out of the press.

The one you can't.

I completely agree with you. I think that there are a lot of kids here who just want the fame and so they try to become an actor, then they give us who work hard and love to act less of a chance. They need to realize that fame isnt as fun as they think, and that they should find something that they love to do, rather than something they think will be glamorous. I have met so many people who want to be an actor because they want the fame and money, and I'm like "What? I want to act because I love Acting!" I personally, would rather not be famous becuas e I dont want to end up like brittany or Lindsey.....

I can't judge as to whether you're right or wrong to be annoyed, but I do know that it's a real waste of energy---ever since acting began there are folks who want to ride the bus who have no idea what the life is like--and this is Yahoo Answers, for gosh sake, not your home phone---it's a public forum. For every twelve people who ask a question about the bright lights, there are usually 20-30 people who are more than ready to set them straight. Why let it get to you? It's not as if the inexperienced askers are going to shoot to stardom on the basis of their question and knock you out of the running, is it?
