Before we can get into Aristocracy in Argentina, we need to understand Argentina's government before the Perons came to power. In the early 1940's, Argentina's governement was a constant see-saw. You see, Argentina was fighting for a democracy. The aristocrats were in power during the time, eventually pushing Armed Forces figures to presidential stature. But in June of 1943, a military coup known as the "GOU" came to Argentina to seek power. Along with them came Colonel Juan Dominigo Peron. The GOU was constantly kidnapping and killing presidents until they came to power with President Ramon Castillo and Head of Social Affairs, Juan Peron. Eventually, Eva Duarte, the B-grade actress came into the picture. Eventually, following Peron's arrets, Juan Peron would become President with First Lady "Evita" at his side. We must also recognize the fact that there are numerous "aristocratic" groups involved in Eva Peron's story, such as the Society de Beneficia. The group ousted from power to the Perons were the Oligarchy. Now normally, as custom routine, the first lady was selected to be president of their generous society. Unfortunately, Eva Peron was not accepted by their legitamate society. This was such an insult to Eva that she cut their federal funding and removed the English from the country. That is what the scene is trying to portray, but they use the Aristocrats. The movie makes better reference to the numerous societies.
