Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is Theater a bad major for someone with a severe language-based learning disabil

Question:It will be more challenging but far from impossible. In my college theatre program we had one woman who was blind, a couple people who had dyslexia and one guy who had aspergers syndrome. Disabilities can present obstacles in just about any major you chose but with determination and creativity you will be able to succeed at anything.

For memorizing lines you can ask someone to assist you by reading the lines for you and record them and you can listen back to it as often as you need to. Or you can let your teachers know about your disability and ask for their assistance in getting through the classes. And of course there is not only the acting side of things in theatre. Perhaps you can also explore technical theatre. You have many options and if this is the major that most appeals to you then you should absolutely go for it.

yes... you have to read a bunch... and at a quick pace, also your acting a ton....

No, it is a difficult major but if it is an interest of yours then pursue it. Also as a practical matter minor in something useful like education, phys. ed., culinary arts (craft tables!! ), welding or something. You don't want to be a waiter do you? ;)
