If it's a high school/ amature production, it's best to perform pieces from musicals. Pick a song that suits your voice and the character you're auditioning for but is from a different musical (directors often have very narrow views about how the songs they are producing ought to be performed) and a short speech which shows a different talent; eg a sassy song ('Roxie' from Chicago) and a passionate speech (Maria telling the captain about his wonderful children in The Sound of Music) or a funny song ('Knights of the Round Table' from Spamalot) and a romantic speech (Romeo and Juliet's always popular) or a sad song ('Close Every Door to Me' from Joseph) and a sassy speech (perhaps from a tv show or movie). Hope that helps.

U could sing Listen by Beyonce. And u could say what your about to sing, how ur going to sing it ,why did u want to sing it, tell them about the song.
