NEVER sing something from the show you are auditioning for unless directed to.
If you look at a sheet of music youu can see the lines that co through the lines those are meausres count out 32 measures and there you go. But make sure that you end with an appropiate ending not just cutting of in the midlle of a verse. You are alowed to go a little over or less. i once did an audition were we only were supposd to de 16 meauseres and my voice teacher helped me with that and my audition peice was actually 27 measures long.
And they actually let me sing through it all. Sometimes when they are done hearing you they will ask you to stop. This does not mean that they didn't like you it just means that they have heard enough of what your voice is like.

You don't want to sing anything from high school musical wicked or hairspray becuase tey are so popular around this time and a lot of people will be using them for auditions and they directors do not want to hear the same song over and over. You want your song to stand out. So you might not want to do anything from Annie either

some songs tht i have done for audtions are

You can't get a man with a gun- Annie get your gun
Bushel and a Beck- Guys and dolls
Not for the life of me - Througly modern millie
Home-Beauty and the beast
Amazing mayzie- Suessical
Shy- Once upon a mattress
Many others too but these are just examples

Make sure you are prepared when you go into your audition

If there is going to be a pianist to play your songs for you make sure you have your sheet music in a neat way that it is easy to see. I usually tape my music to the inside of a file folder. Also you want to
highlight the words of the section you are doing. Make sure you mark the Start abd finsh of your music too.

When you walk in hand the music to the pianist and tell her if there is a certain key that you want to do it in. Then walk to the center of the room or where ever the directors want you to stand. Tell them what your name is and tell them the song you are sining. The pianist will give a very short intro so be able to sing right away. Make sure you are always smiling. When you are done make sure you say thank you grap your musicv and head out the door.

Hope i helped

Good luck

12 bars are usually about 4 lines. when you go in, tell them your name and maybe have a bottle of water with you. it shows your prepared. get there slightly early and just dress normally. if you are singing for the audition, try something from the musical you are doing. it'll look like you know it and gives them an ides of what you'd be like at the songs you'd be doing in the musical. trust me. i know.
i hope this was helpful!

A bar is just another name for a measure so, in other words prepare a 32 measure piece. As far as a musical selection goes, try something from a classic musical. For example Castle on a Cloud from Les Miserables. Try to find something that really showcases your voice.

32 bars means 32 measures so grap your sheet music and count the bars out to 32 and you'll be good. Be very prepared when you go into the audition make sure you know absolutely know the song forwards and backwards that way instead of focusing on what note and words that come next you can focus on conveying the emotion of the song. Wear something professional but something that is still you that way you'll feel comfortable in it and won't have to worry about how you look. i reccomend practicing the audtition with the outfit on so that way you know if you'll play with anything on the outfit like long sleeves or whatever and stop the habit before you go to the audition. Also practice walking confidently in the room, it sounds ridiculous but it will really help and always thank the directors and the pianist after your audition. Just take a deep breath and don't eat dairy the day of the audition and drink lots and lots of water so your voice sounds clear. hope that helped! ]break a leg!!
