i think it is about a love so strong that nothing can break it. even with such violent families and being rised in violence. and the fact their families r enemies and they fight for each other.

it also shows to me that love can make you do silly things like suicide. they cudnt be together so they died together.

they must of been so in love that they cudnt go on living with out each other. life was not complete without each other.

as for falling in love so fast regarless of what people say it does happen. they knew and it doesnt matter what anyone else says. people shud b happy 4 them not make it hard for them

thanx god times have changed well at least for most that is lol

Teenage Suicide

I always felt that R & J is a bit of a dichotomy. I know that it is supposed to be about true love and such, but the fact that they fell in love so easily and quickly without regard to anyone but themselves makes me feel that they were immature and selfish. Also, since I believe that suicide is a cowardly act, the final piece when they both kill themselves seems an act of weakness. I know it's supposed to represent the greatest love story of all time, but from some of my readings I wonder if that is what Shakespeare really had in mind.

i think its about love overcoming all obtsicales... hahaha really i dont remember but i just finishes watching moulin rouge...sigh i loooove that movie!

The Montagues and the Capulets, and two star-crossed lovers

When I first saw this play, it struck me that it is mainly about rival gangs fighting in the streets and killing each other.

It is a tragedy in the Greek sense of the word.

I think it's about love but also about the behaviour of the other characters and how that affects Romeo and Juliet. If nobody had objected to their relationship they wouldn't have killed themselves.

It is all about love... did you really need to ask?

I think it is a cautionary tale about acting without thinking. Our actions have consequences, if we think of them or not. All of the characters act quickly (Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, Capulet, Paris, Nurse, ect) and they all contribute to another's downfall, even thought that was not their intention.

i think it is over all about conflict. Although you have a "love" story running through it the fact is that right from the beginning of their romance R&J xperience a sense of conflict. J talks on the balcony about the fact that she is not sure whether to trust R or not "yet if thou swearst thou mayst prove false" she feels sure that she loves him but she isn't sure of his feelings for her. From this point on conflict and not love is, in my mind, the major theme.
