Okay. let me inform you on something. I just turned 13 a few months ago and I'm a freshman in Highschool. I have a gigantic passion for musical theatre. Of course my parents wanted me to stick to my school work. But you have to ask yourself this, "Do I really want to do this for the rest of my life?" If the answer is yes, then some defying is in order. I know that sounds bad, but you have to fight for your dream. Your parents wont be winning that first Oscar in the next ten or twenty years. You will if you put forth blood, sweat, tears and anything else you can give up. The best thing you can do is prove someone wrong. But you cant just go for dream and forget everything else. Your parents will probably support you if they see if you can have responsibility for school and act you butt off on that stage. So ask them to give you a try. They love I'm sure and they want the best for you so give it a try.
Good Luck,

Its your life, your choice. don't let anyone tell you that you cant do something. If you want to do it, enjoy doing it, and can see yourself in the future doing it, then you bloody well go for it!

Like i said dont let anyone say you cant do something even if it is your parents. Im sure they do want the best for you. But its your choice and if acting is your choice then so be it.

Besides, im sure you will have plenty of time to do your school work.

If this is REALLY your passion, I say GO FOR IT. :]

Oh my gosh! When it comes to your dreams and passions you should never limit yourself to what your parents say! However, you need to make them understand that you want to be an actor. And your not in it for the fame and money, that you are into acting because it is what you love to do. But you also need to make sure that you and your parents understand that acting is a life of rejection. Auditions come and go and even the greatest of actors get turned down, and if you can't handle that then acting certainly isnt for you! Be firm when you tell your parents that whether they support you or not you will continue to pursue your dream. Who knows? They might hear what you have to say and understand that maybe they should back you on this. The world of acting is a cruel one, after all.

Go for it!

If you feel that acting is the career for you, then do everything you can to push yourself in that direction. Acting alot and keeping up with your studies can be difficult, but it isn't impossible. If I were you, I would express my concerns about my parents support to them to see if that is how they really feel. Talk it out, and see if there is a good reason they don't want you choosing that path. Maybe they are worried that your career might end with a shaved head and 24 hour marages.

Keep trying, work hard, and remember to keep your life balanced.

My parents are the same way.
Audition anyways, and prove you can do it, during practices you can probably do school work, but how do you know its the right thing for you if you dont try?

GO FOR IT!!!! my dad didn't support me earlier when i first made my decision to go into musical theater. he has a doctorate in Chemistry and he wanted me to go to a really good school and study psycology or something. but now that he sees how passionate i am (and that he hasn't been able to change my mind), he totally supports me and drives me to auditions and stuff like that. This is YOUR dream and YOUR life. there is a big chance you wont make it, most actors don't. but just know that you might get 1000 "no"'s before your first "yes" and that is something great and something to be proud of. break a leg and i can't wait to work with you on broadway when we both make it. :)

It dosen't matter what your parents think
but if you really want them to support you show them it won't affect your school work and stuff
its your life not thiers

Never let anyone stop from what you want to do!!!

Get involved! show your parents how much you really want this!

and then they'll know not to drag you down.

it worked for me!
it'll work for you!

OMG!! We are exactly like eachother! My mom will not support me. She says " Well, you don't have time" and "Do you know how many other kids dont make it?" I say you should just join the drama club at your school if you have one, and you could start doing plays. Or you could do a little play with your friends and put it on youtube. A lot of people get discovered there. Also, you might wantt o start learning monolouges and scripts so you have more experience. I hope I helped!
