Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Help with casting agency?

Question:I'm new to this. There's a movie filming in my area and I found out about it just as its entering its casting phase. (I want to be more than just an extra) I know the address of the casting agency, so now what?

I know I need a headshot and resume, but what else? A letter? A tape of me doing a monologue, a website, what? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Usually the headshot and resume is all you need. Your resume should probably have age, height, weight, hair color, eye color.

If they have any cast openings they generally call you to see you.

If you get a speaking role or get directed by the director or do some bit of action AND it goes to Network TV or major studio distribution you become SAG eligible and can get your union card by paying $2,500 within a year if you find additional work in other movies.

Once you are SAG eligible and get notice from SAG you are eligible, you will have an easier time finding a SAG Franchised agent.

But don't tell them you're going to do this! They get fined for using non-union and getting them taft hartley, so they don't like doing it!

Just do the role and enjoy it and wait for it to come out from a major studio then notify SAG and get your eligibility papers.

And there's nothing wrong with Extra work, it gives you a shot at seeing how it's done and some experience.

Plus you can still get bumped up to a role from Extra
