Bye Bye Birdie?

Question:I just auditioned for BBB for the parts of Kim and Ursela. I originally wanted to be Kim, but when the directors heard me as Ursela, they loved it! I think i may get the role. My question is, what is this role like? I read somewhere that she suggests having an orgy with her friends..and I would feel extremely uncomfortable if I had to say this...its morally wrong for me. Does this happen in the show? If you've ever been Ursula, or have any experience with BBB, I'd love your input! Thanks!

Its at the end the girls have sort of "kidnapped" Conrad Birdie and are confronting him on how all his songs are telling him to live their life and all the things they want to do while they're still young. Then Ursela jumps into Birdies arm and yells "Let's have an orgy!" it’s not really that bad, she proably didn't even know what it meant. The line was put in there to show how naive Ursela is. In the first act she’s falling on her knees at Birdies feet loudly declaring his greatness! The part of Ursela is strictly comical and is meant to be every parent’s stero-type of a star struck teenager.
If you do get the role remember your just ACTING, the character is saying the line not you personally

As for the orgy line, I certainly don't remember that, thought that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The old memory isn't what it used to be... I honestly can't imagine it would and if you have a problem saying that, tell the director and I'm sure another of Conrad's groupie's could say it.

Ursula is a lot of fun to go overboard with! I hope you get the role.

There is nothing like an orgy - this is a wholesome show and except for some drinking its hard to see what anyone would find morally wrong. When your school does Rent you may have moral considerations, but the kids in Birdie are specifically innocent high school kids.

The character Ursela doesn't even really know what the word Orgy means. If you always have to have your morality line up with your character, you should give up acting now.
