You don't chose them, they chose you! But first, you have to give them something to chose you for. This means work experience. And this translates into you learning the craft from the ground up. If you think you are going to get an agent by walking into his/her office with a two line CV/Resume or none at all, with little or no experience.....all I can say is I hope you like the sound and taste of constant rejection!

Also, it is a myth that you need an agent to get you work. Especially when you are first starting out. You don't! In fact, you can find work on your own, often more then you might get through your agent. I was offered more work on my own then my last agent put me forward for. I remember walking past a shoot on my way to another shoot I was already booked for. The producer saw me and stopped me in my tracks. He offered to cast me on the spot, but I told him I was signed. Honesty in this business will get you a long way too....

Get the know how and get out there and find your own work, build up your work experience and then approach an agent you have researched (Another topic all by itself)...

Best of luck!

Are you any good at what you are trying to do. ?

go for it !!!!

look at all but CHOOSE CAREFULLY - DONT SNAP OFF THE HAND OF ANY OFFERS GO AWAY AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THE OFFER IS AND READ THE SMALL PRINT. go to a local Theatre and speak to the people working they have really good ideas and experiences to share. GOOD LUCK!

Where did you train for acting? Do they have placement agencies? Try to contact the local and regional theatre and acting companies. Inquire about coursework, representation and placement. Good Luck

You should put down the kinds of acting and traits you want the agent to have on a flyer.

Kwan is on the right track. Agents do not make actors, actors earn agents. You have to start at school in all the plays and begin to move up with professional classes and attending open auditions. Slow down, don't rush, get ready and then go for it.
