Stand Up And Gesture Freely - It will increase vocal energy level. Use gestures to pump up the energy level. Don't be afraid to look like a maniac.

Mark Your Script - before you begin reading, know exactly where you intend to pause and for how long. Mark these pauses on your script. This is also where you will breathe. Do not pause anywhere else!

Don’t be conscious - when reading copy you shouldn't be thinking about your voice at all but concentrating on the person you are talking to.

Make believe you are a truck with the broom broom sound - it will loosen out your facial muscles. Trill your tongue like rattlesnake to loosen it.

Remember that speaking clearly has nothing to do with shouting - use facial muscles with energy to project your voice forward, rather than strain it by trying to increase volume.

Be aware of tension in the jaw - this is a sure sign that voice strain will follow! The simplest way to counter this is to just drop the jaw for a second; you will feel the facial muscles relax and doing this a number of times may save you from real problems later.

just keep on practicing! practice makes perfect!

I would say that practising would be the key to solving your problem. Try reading aloud to yourself in different styles, pitches and volumes to see which one or ones you like and are comfortable. Try using intonation (making your voice go up and down in pitch) slightly to make your voice sound more interesting to listeners. If you engage with the text, no matter how boring, then you can make it seem interesting. Instead of trying to do what sounds right, try to focus on what FEELS right. If you do singing or drama or if you can afford lessons you can use techniques to project and refine your vocal technique.
Hope this helps. Xx

I had the same problem a few years back...it sounded very monotone and boring. A lot of great performers have stage presence and your voice will add to stage presence a lot.
(stage presence will get you noticed/discovered)

...Try standing in a room on your own and scream/shout your words out
Also, as silly as you may look yawn and stretch your face around and make silly noises...just to generally warm your face up and there warming your mouth up.

My biggest tip would be to try less, dont worry about your diaphram...just let go...

Go through your script and decide what bits are going to be high points and low points, angry points, happy points, confused points...annotate your script with these!

This way its interesting...trust me! you will find you get way more into the piece and your voice will automatically differ where it needs to!

Good luck!
see you on stage one day :)
