It depends on the score. A lot of musicals use orchestras...violins, violas, Cello, bass, drums, flutes, horn sections etc... Where if you get a rock musical it would be full on electrical guitars, drums, bass etc.

Strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion, that is standard orchestra. Of course there are variations according to the particular musical.
