How do i know if i have enough talent to persue my dreams?

Question:i really want to be a broadway actress or film actress. How do i know if i have what it takes to persue a career in this? its been my dream for a long time.

<sigh> I just love the idea that so many people here seem to think that a strong will and determination are enough to make you a star. Sorry, nope. You do need those things, but only when it's coupled with gallons upons gallons of talent.

How do you know if you have enough? Honestly, look where you are. You should be auditioning left, right and center in your home town. Are you getting leads? There are people, even at the community theatre level who just shine onstage and makes you wonder why they don't pursue it professionally (and the reason they probably don't pursue it professionally is because they're aware of how difficult it is to make a career of).

However, a direct answer would be you never know unless you actually get out there and try (um and this is assuming you actually have the chops to back it up. For whether or not you do have the chops, see above. Don't ask your friends, they can't judge subjectively. )There is tons of competition, but at the end of the day, you never know what the director is looking for. It could be you.

.take a video of yourself and show it to other ppl if ur nto embarrased you have potential whats ur opinion whne u watch the video

ASK PEOPLE YOU KNOW THAT WILL BE PERFECTLY HONEST WITH YOU.

just go to an audition and see what they say. even if you dont become a star, its worth a shot.

you have to believ in whatever you do...confidence is the key....ever heard?...you have to believe if you want to achieve?....so go out their and show them that you've got talent!

yeah so does everyone else hon. sorry, why would u wanna be something thats so hard, but so easy to do? i used to wanna be a film actress but yeah. w.e... life wouldnt be the same.

well you just have to go for your dreams.
and try everything you can.

-practice practice practice!
-don't doubt yourself.
-get out there and do what you do.
keep trying.
if you don't make it the first few times keep trying.

Join a theatre group and get as much experience as possible. Also you could try recording yourself doing a small play or song and think of the advice you would give if you were someone else... ;0)

All it takes is hard work, you don't have have IT or anything. You will if you put your mind to it

p.s. i have only been to 1 audition for a commercial and i got in =D , ( sighs ) not what i wanted but it was still a great experience with the crew and ect .

Network with people in the industry. It's the best way to get your foot in the door or to evaluate whether you've got the skills or not. Speak with people who have been there, perhaps join forums and boards online where people in that industry discuss all of the aspects involved.

It's best to figure out early on whether or not you are cut out for this type of career. As you know, the costs involved (not to mention the travelling, the time, etc) can be a huge factor in whether you are able to stick to it long enough to really get somewhere.
