Question:no travel fares or even a ticket for us as parents to see the show? Is there no payment because we should be accepting the experience of being in a professional production as the reward? I run a drama group and professional shows that use the children from our group don't pay either us or the children involved. The prestige for the group is enough and for the child it is generally a hugely positive experience. Most pro groups also won't offer complimentary tickets to family members. If you aren't happy take your child out. But to be honest, you will look like the bad one in that situation and the pros know this.
I personally draw the line for children who are expected to miss school for shows and won't allow my students to do that.

If that was the agreement to begin with then no. You should have dealt with his before it started.

Come to think about it, yeah. It is kinda unfair

Hi!

Yeah, I've heard about that!

And I think it is OUTRAGEOUS!!

Sorry, but I don't have the answer for you, except it makes me very cross!

You knew the terms and conditions when allowing your child to go into the show. If you wasn't happy you should have done something about it then. Not waited till the middle of panto season to moan.

Well honestly i think that you shouldnt expect your child to be paid to do it..... if you arent happy with it then dont let your child do it!!

i guess being in a panto is great fun for a kid!! some kids enjoy that as some enjoy football, but kids that play footy for teams dont get paid to play do they?? they do it for the passion of it and the fun of it!!

The panto is from a drama group, so chances are they aint making much from it anyway, i think the whole experience of being in a panto for a kid who likes all that is payment enough really!!

although they could have supplied you parents with tickets!
You never know, your child may love it and become the next brad pitt/anjelina jolie/chris biggins lol

happy new year!!

You should know going in what the deal is. It's like community theater people griping about not getting paid. If you want to get paid, do professional theater. If you just want to have some fun, do community stuff.

"Fair" or "unfair" really isn't the issue here.

They're ripping you off financially, but sometimes it's not about the money but the experience, and getting the CV filled. I worked on a panto once where the dancers - all juveniles - barely got paid enough to replace the tights they wore out on stage, but they still loved it.

It's well tight of the production company though.

The idea of a little fame soon wears off when the rewards don,t fit what is percieved as an oscar winning performance But the payment hopefully will be a talent scout looking for future stars and you never know.
