I think nerves are a part of the excitement. Just remember that no one else knows how nervous you are, so try to stay cool and as calm as you can. Remember everyone else there is thinking about how they are going to do and the people in the audience are concentrating on their own loved one, not you. It's ok to have the jitters, most people get them.

Keep focused on what you are there to do and do your best to enjoy the moment.

All the best of success!

PICTURE EVERYONE IN THEIR UNDERWEAR

Just believe in yourself. don't think about anybody. just think about you winning the spelling bee. watch akeelah and the bee and you'll see how easy it is not to be nervous.

you should focus or look at people that are your friends/family that should help alot=]

xanax

just remember one thing.......the people in the audience are not against you. if they were they wouldnt be there watching you. they want you to do good, and they dont want you to mess up. just remember they are on your side

think of the audience members as little children who genuinely want to know how the word is spelled, and you're helping them

take a xanax

be very focused and behave as if there is no audience at all..

I'm not sure if there are any ways to get over being nervous itself, but whenever I get shaken up before an event, I eat a banana. I hear that the protein in them is very good for you. Good luck!

what i do is that i think of how great it is that i have this oppurtunity, and if i mess up it's ok, cuz if they judge me they're just idiots. good luck!

You know that old joke, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice, practice, practice.

If you know your material backwards and forwards, it will quell the quesees considerable.

I was always told to imagine the audience naked, or in their underwear, then they are not imposing or threatening, so they have no more power to make you nervous. I've tried it and it works, or least it kinda takes your mind off being so self-conscious.

when you up on the stage depending where you r u may not be able to see the adence...but if you can look at their forheads...or people that don't make you nervous...or picture them in their underwere!!!

hope that helps!!!

imagine that there is nobody there and that ur just praticing

pretend everyone is a dog
i know it sounds crazy but it works
LOL!

First of all you need to be well prepared for whatever you're presenting. In your case... learn lots of big words hehe. About the butterflies in stomach or shaky hand which I get sometimes... I usually just concentrate on what I'm doing instead of thinking what other people's pondering. Control your breathing. It'll be help calm you down a little too. good luck

Eat a banana or two before you go on stage. (I'm serious - I'm a musician, this helps me). They have natural "beta-blockers" which help keep your heart from racing.

I took an oral presentations class and I learned a lot. You have to visualize yourself looking and speaking great. Go over it in your head. Be confident....fake it till ya make it. Speak slow and clear and think about what you want to say before you do. Stand up tall. Its really not that bad. Good luck, I used to love spelling bees. Remember to concentrate on your words too !

i went to lavilla middle school of the arts and i did shows all the time because my arts area was dance so whaen ever i was on stage i just pretend that the only person in the audience was my mom and i convenced my self i was only dancing for her

well there you can always use the old technique of picturing the people in there underwhere. however i suggest that you just stop being such a little ***** and man so you get over that stage fright and then you will win the spelling bee.

personally i love public speaking whereas many are deathly afraid. what always helped me is to study in my head or be knowledgeable about what i am talking about. and when you do speak don't just stare in the crowd but scan it as if to look at everyone even if you don't, and smile.

Dress in a way that makes you feel better.
try to look at the people that makes you feel comfortable.
if you are afraid to look at the crowd, try to look at someting else

i no how u feel...and the underwear trick DONT WORK!
i just face them and practice, practice, PRACTICE!!!! have confidence in yourself! best of luck

think positive -do 1 min breathing exercisize-have a stiff drink

You're thinking about it too much and phycing yourself out.
I've got pretty bad stage fright too.
You won't look like a fool if you just take deep breaths.

In through your nose, hold it, then out through you mouth.
you'll feel so much better. just keep doing that over and over whenever you feel the nerves comming.

This way you can focus on spelling and not so much on the dumb stupid crowd!

Good Luck!
xox

Focus on your act, lines to the point where you know you are good and don't worry about the audience...

Why would you look like a fool? Do you think others look like fools? they are the same as you; and so guess what? They are just people and nothing to be afraid of.

Good luck. You will do fine.

Change your thoughts.
Visualize all those butterflies as spelling words and they are there in your body to come to your aid when you need them.
Nervous and excited are the same thing! Think about how fun and exciting it is for you to be at this spelling bee.

For a quick energy medicine tip: Take your hand and put it up on your chest up above your heart right in the center. Then breathe slowly and deeply right into your hand. Keep your hand there and breathing deeply as long as you need.

And - even if you look like a fool - it will not kill you. It will strengthen that courageous part of you. Good Luck

You might want to think about taking a mild MILD tranquilizer beforehand, something over the counter preferably.I know that feeling and it's horrible. The tightness in your throat, the unding in your chest, etc. It's more common that you think but,if you do decided to take something, take ONLY the reccomended dosage, okay?
Good Luck,Cookie!

Just remember you got it and everyone else is dead meat.
