Is not important. Because it all depends on the role. Producers can be looking for someone black that is very tall or they can be looking for some one black who is very short so it all depends on the role.

Tom Cruise is about 5'6", which makes you a smidge taller. A lot of actors are fairly short, so no, height makes no difference, even looks aren't as important as talent and charisma.

Tom Cruise, Brad Oitt, Sean Penn, and the Sheen Brothers are all under 6 feet. I would think looks and body are most important.

Not really.Look at Joe Pesci.Even though every role he plays is that of a foul mouthed midget gangster that beats up people 3x his size(very realistic) he is still a successful actor.

I believe that height isn't so important as you tink. There are many great actors who aren't tall, for example Tom Cruise who is about 1.69 meters, but have a great success. In my opinion look is more important than height, but the thing that counts most of all is talent. So, if you have this combined by a good- looking figure, you have the best assets for being an actor. If acting is your dream, chase after it!

oh i think this is a good question . i have always wondered myself. I find in small theatre it doesn't matter because they can always pair a couple with a shorter guy with a younger girl..seems always someone within height range that audioned to make things work. My daughter is very petite and was short, but is starting to get tall, and she does lot's of theatre, I myself wonder how this will work out.

dude, talent is what counts,

-danny devito...under 5ft,
-joe pesci...under 5ft,
-tom cruise 5:6,
-that agent cody banks guy..5:5,
-dustin hoffman 5:5,

just too name a few. These guys are successful cos they've got talent, and thats all u need. Don't ever count on your looks. If u have both...Great. If u dnt have the looks but have the talent...even better, most talented, and successful hollywood actors don't have the looks. Forest Whitaker for example, but the dude won an oscar this year.

Dude! Being short's great. I've nabbed plenty of roles because the others were too tall for the camera or too tall to be involved with the female protagonist. Your in for a ride if you've got the right look. Good Luck, happy news years from here in manhattan. Oh and call me when you've hit the top =]

Height is only important when you have to be cast againt someone else and you don't want a very short man or woman with a very tal opposite sex, unless the desired effect is comedy. But many actors are short and directors cast around that. Dustin Hoffman is short and Helen Hayes was very short but played Mary Queen of Scots, one of the tallest queens on record. She just had an air of authority about her that overcame that deficiency and she did a great job at it.

It really depends on what character you're playing. My friend was going to audition for a broadway musical but she was too tall. So if you want to go out for a part I would study the character and see if you fit the role and the height factor of the character!! GOOD LUCK!!
