Question:I really want to know because its been on my mind all day. I need to learn how to do it well because I go to The Acting School of South Florida and we are practicing drama and I want it to go off without a hitch. How do I pretend to faint very realistic?

~ Start gradually slowing down if you are walking, and hold your head a little, like you have a headache.

~Stop talking. Not suddenly though, just slow down gradually till you stop. Blink and squint your eyes like you are trying to focus (but just a few times, or it will seem like you have something in your eye, or may think you are upset).

~ Say that you feel a little dizzy and that you think you need a glass of water or some fresh air. Maybe ask someone to open a window.

~ Make sure you fall safely. You don't want to hit your head and hurt yourself. If you are standing, buckle your knees and let them hit the ground before you attempt to drop your torso. Make sure you go fast enough (without making it look like a 5000 volt surge of lightning has rushed though you), or it will seem fake. If you are sitting, relax and imagine you actually are fainting. Let yourself fall off the chair, as it is unlikely you would stay on there if you actually did faint. Try to land on the back side of your thigh, not your hip or tail bone. Then quickly drop your torso. Let your arms do whatever and don't move at all, this will make you look like you have fainted.

~Lie on the ground. Make sure you aren't stiff, and if someone attempts to lift an arm and shake it, let it just completely relax and when they drop it, just let it fall as it would. This is a common 'fake spotter' test. Unconscious people don't have control over their limbs. Someone should come over to see if you are okay, causing a diversion for whatever occasion.

~ Open your eyes and take a deep breath. Often times, fainters will wake having not remembered that they fainted. Say all you can remember is feeling hot and that it looked like someone dimmed the lights in the room.

~Sit up slowly and after a moment, stand, or get someone to pull you to your feet, or, you can play up the drama and sit up quickly and ask what happened, then "get dizzy" and sort of waver a bit again so people think you might faint again and will all rush to your aid.

* If you immediately resume your previous activity, it's going to look suspicious. Take a moment to sit quietly resting your head between your legs.
* Alternatively, you can have someone to help you with this. It's like the "trust" Game, where you fall backwards and let someone catch you. After the catch, have the person slowly lower you to the ground.
* You may need to practice your fall before the real thing. Find a way that doesn't cause you much pain or discomfort.
* If you plan this in advance, it might help if you complain of slight blurry vision or very mild dizziness (don't stress it, though). This way your faint isn't totally out of the blue.
* People who faint or pass out usually do so going forward not backward, so forward and to the side would be the safest.
* If you think you can't fall realistically then "faint" when one or two people are far enough to see that you fell but not far enough so they don't notice it was not real.
* Say to somebody, "Everything is turning black and white," then pretend to pass out

lock your knees....it'll be a great performance ;-)

well when i faint (on accident) i always see black spots. then jsut melt to the ground all floppy and what not.

oh and alseo its always like a slow thing.. i get kinda hott and dissy when i stand up then i fall over

Lock your knees for an extended period of time. It blocks circulation and makes you collapse.
DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH. Not very practical for acting anyway. And its dangerous, brain-wise.

I would say hold your breath. Or yeah, just realisticly pass out

Compress your corotid artery.. or, stand for a really long time with your knee joints locked.

roll your eyes in the back of your headtake a breath and fall down

just fall down on your bum and put your hand on your forehead and seem like you can't see anything that well

Which is why actors don't faint realistically.

get someone to hit you with a crow bar when nobody is looking. thats what matt damon does

mostly you just pretend as if the room is spinning and then fall to the floor.

i would say your best bet is to look up someone fainting on youtube (you can find pretty much anything on that site) and try to imitate is as best as possible!

i would go on youtube and look up people really fainting. and then just practice... with pillows and stuff for safety : )

go up against a wall lean forward with your hands on your knees. Take big woofing breathes for about 1 minute, get two people to then push your chest up against the wall, and to hold you when you faint so you dont fall.

works perfect for real.

if you want to fake it, just pretend your getting shot.

you want to put on foot behind the other and kinda fall on it it keeps you from getting hurt and looks good on stage.

You can try rolling your eyes back as far as you can then fluttering your eyelids, then just go limp and try not to bang your head on the floor. If you can flutter one eyelid lower than the other, kind of like a wink, that also adds to the effect.

It would be nice if you could collapse ONTO someone who could help break your fall. You may try collapsing sideways so your shoulder will hit before your head does. Collapsing straight backwards runs the risk of a real head bonk on the floor.

If you are going to acting school, why don't you ask the teachers? You are wasting your money.
