If you would tell people what the skit is about and what actions the songs are supposed to support, perhaps THEN people could distill an entire decade of music into a few suggestions.

If you're not going to do that, you're going to get suggestions like "I Fought the Law and the Law Won." Hey, it's from the 60s.
