Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Does a Southerner's inner voice also have an accent?

Question:This depends entirely on whether the Southerner is an existentialist. You ma;y have heard "if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?". An existentialist would say no, because their philosophy of reality is only what they see, hear etc. in their own experience. Therefore, if the Southerner is an existentialist, and he/she listens to the inner voice, then of course there is a Southern accent. However, any psychic who is also an existentialist will not read the Southerner's mind in an accent. By the way, since I do not see you, hear you or know of you, you do not exist. Nor does this answer.

I imagine it does. And I assume when they dream, they dream they speak in their accent. The accent is normal to them, so why wouldn't they? Seems a lot like language in general. I speak English and Spanish and can dream in both.

I would think yes, because when you are thinking to yourself you talk in your own voice, don't you? It wouldn't make sense if all of the sudden you were talking in a British accent in your head and an American accent in the real world.

If anything I might think the inner voice has an even more exaggerated accent, because don't you try to sound better in front of other people? and you it's just you and yourself you become your true self? If your character is a southerner at heart she wouldn't pay much attention to how she sounds in her inner voice, and if you have an accent and you aren't paying attention to it... usually it becomes more obvious.
