First of all, you rarely want to dress as a character for an audition. You can suggest it (example - auditioning for Dorothy, wear red shoes... NOT RUBY SLIPPERS, just red shoes that suggest the idea) by what you wear, but never dress as the character unless instructed to.

Basic classy black is always a good start. Wear the Little Black Dress (LBD) with something that suits your personality to help you stand out (a colorful scarf, fun shoes, etc).

Also, Theatre Doc is correct - make sure you know who and what you're auditioning for. It's, unfortunately, a bit of a dangerous and questionable profession and you have to be careful.

Well hopefully the both of these roles are in two diff. movies. Then you can see how people are dressed in the first one and make it a learning experience. Otherwise I suggest going conservative but in the theme of the movie.

OK, who got you these auditions? if you do not have an agent, beware! if you have an agent they will be happy to tell you how to dress, but since you don't know that, i suspect you don't know what is going to happen at the audition, either, and that means you do not have an agent. I constantly worry about people getting scammed, see my answer to the question above about the kid in the mall. Look, be on the safe side and let me know how you got the audition and what company is runn- ing it and we can make sure you are not headed fpr trouble.
