Info on Arvide Abernathy from guys and dolls? anyone played this role??

Question:ok so yes I got the part of Arvide Abernathy for a school production, but what i want to know is information on acting roles or singing he does.. and anything else! If u have played this role please tell me about your experience.. or just anything u know about him... also i'm a girl playing this guys part i'd like some feedback on how challenging that will be? please help me :p thank you in advance

I was in Guys and Dolls a few years back, when I played one of the missionaries. Abernathy is a pretty key role, and serves as a sort of paternal figure/advisor to Sarah Brown. He's pretty protective of Sarah.

I've seen this role played by a woman/young lady before, and the role was tweaked slightly so that Abernathy was more a very good friend. It worked out pretty well.

Abernathy sings in "Follow The Fold" and a few other chorus numbers. He does have one nice solo, "More I cannot wish you."
