just because there is a monologue in a show doesn't mean it's being overdone. why, there's a monologue in EVERY show that i have done so far!

Consider that no matter how new the monologue is that you'll be doing, it's your ABILITY to deliver it that the panel will be looking at, not the material. "Overdone" is a pretty subjective term, plus you have to consider that if you are accepted, you will be doing plays sooner or later that will be anything but original.

Concentrate more on finding a piece that you're comfortable with, instead of rejecting something out-of-hand because somebody else says it's "overdone." If you can, work with a director or a coach who knows something about theater, who can help you put a "polish" on your monologue before you have to go in.
