-Make sure you're completely sure you know everything you need to do/say/sing. Practise, practise, practise until you can do it in your sleep. This will make you more confident, knowing that you know it (if that makes sense..)
-Try meditating a bit beforehand. See if you can find someplace calm and just close your eyes and block everything out.
-Don't look your audience in the eye. Fix your vision on a spot just above their heads.
-Try drinking a chocolate milk if your REALLY desperate (but ONLY then...it's not the best idea if you have to sing as soon as you get on stage).

Above all: do not forget to BREATHE and remember feeling nervous is normal!

"The day you lose the nerves is the day you lose your touch"!!!

try out first with a some audience like ur family and friends.

I have been performing my whole life, since i was little, and everyone gets scared it is perfectly normal! Now that you aren't beating yourself up about it, try taking some beta blockers. You can get them at any vitamin or health store. They just calm your nerves and help keep you in the state of mind you wish to be in. If you don't want to go that route, then visualizing helps a lot. Just imagine you are putting all your worries and cares into a box, and you are shoving it under you bed, not to hide it, but to put it away for a while, until you have time to come back to it later. Hope you conquer you fear and have fun performing!

I have always heard to take large deep breaths before going on stage.

just do it!!! think of how accomplished and proud you will be afterwards... it will be amazing!!!

You're not alone. Every actor gets stage fright, and every actor, no matter how experienced, feels nervous at an audition. One of the best ways to rise above your fear is simply to acknowledge it openly. Say to whoever is running the tryouts, "Wow, I'm incredibly nervous," or something like that. Once you've named the problem out loud, it won't have quite so much power over you.

Accept the fear, etc. as something normal. Public speaking is high on the list of human fears. Know that the others trying out for the play most likely are experiencing the same reactions. Prepare by learning the lines, learn them well. Then learn some simple yoga stretches to release some of the tension in your muscles. This will, in turn, help you to calm down inside. Then focus your attention on your breath, taking slow deep breathes into your lungs and then slowly letting the air out. You can do this while you wait for your turn to audition. YOU CAN DO THIS. Do not let fear get in your way. Make it work for you. All the best.

well y u are up there you should either look over the audiences heads or look at a person that doesn't make you nervous. never look at the teacher making the decision if your school or where u are trying out has a stage it will probably have lights that will blind you so there will be no one to make you nervous because you won't be able to see them.

yeah its hard to deal with. best think you can do is find your own way of calming down before the performance. i find the best way is talk myself down before show time. find your zone and work on it. that and trying out and getting use the the feeling help you under stand it. also figure out what is making so nervous.
