In my nursing school, we had labs together in which we frequently had to get undressed and get into hospital gowns to pretend to be patients in turns. Later, during my masters work, I was struggling to overcome a profound fear of speaking that continues to plague me. Right before I had to give a presentation about a bioethics project, I phoned my father for moral support. He told me pretty much the same thing, "Just imagine the audience is naked." When it came time to begin my presentation, I looked out over the audience filled with my colleagues and fellow students and realized that I HAD seen them all naked at one time or another in our careers! I started laughing uncontrollably, shared all of that with them, and went on then somewhat gracefully to make my presentation. I like the answer from the actress above. Forget the audience. Focus on your work.

Do some reading.....! I posted that answer and IT IS THE CORRECT ONE MY DEAR. How is it going to help. Just imagining how a person would look without his or her clothes is enough to keep your mind off stage fright and putting a smile on your face. Obviously, you didn't experiment.

Aha!
It doesn't. You should be focussing on what your performing on rather then focusing on the audience in their underwear.

There is obviously no TRUE cure for stage fright. But there are many tips to overcome it. And some things to do before going on stage to calm you down.

1.Take deep breaths. In through the nose. Out through the mouth.
2. Relax all muscles.
And many more. You can find them all over the internet.
Good luck!

Well, I suppose most people's stage fright is that they're afraid the audience is going to laugh at them if they mess up. This way, they can be laughing at the audience in their head and not worry so much because they aren't thinking about messing up.

i dont know but if i imaged people in underwear i think i would laugh.ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Because they think that the audience has already made such fools of themselves that they don't need to worry about making a fool of him/herself.

I've found that the adrenaline one works better.

Stage fright is a problem for some people but for some people it just is not an issue. It must have to do with the self confidence of the person standing on stage. I think if your thinking about what you should be doing it is harder to get distracted by other people.
I don't get stage fright. It doesn't bother me to sing on stage.
But then I started with giving talks to kindergardeners with their parents.
I figure that people are either going to be supportive of what your doing or they are not. If not then it is their problem, not mine.

well, it can help by distracting from your stage fright and making you smile, true, but it also can distract you from your lines or what you're doing. anyone who wants to try this should test it out before doing it in a performance because my friend tried this opening night and he busted up laughing and forgot all of his lines...
