In this scene she takes the potion after a soliloquy where she expresses her fears. Despite these fears, she takes the potion to avoid having to marry Paris and being unfaithful to Romeo.

This scene shows she has rational fears about whether the Friar might be trying to kill her, fear that the potion won't work and fear of waking up in the tomb with the bodies of her ancestors. Despite these fears, she takes the potion anyway, showing her strength of character and her courage.

Earlier in the scene she tells the nurse to leave, saying she has need of prayers. This shows she can be deceptive, though this isn't seen as a negative trait, perhaps.
