Does anyone else do this acting exercise?

Question:Okay I turn on the tv and turn on the closed captions. Then i'll chose a character and read out and performe her whole part of the episode. Because then you can see how the actor does it while you do it your way and learn like that.
I do this all the time but i was wondering if other people do this too because i find it very helpfull.

No I haven't but in the days before closed captions (yes I'm that old) we would turn down the sound and each person take a character and make up the dialog ourselves. Sometimes it could be pretty funny. Especially when another character got mad at another character.

i've never heard of this, but it sounds like it would be good, just so long as you're portraying the character as you would, and not mimicing what the actress is doing.
